St-Barth's Bucket 2004

The "big boys" on parade

Here a day, there a day, with big buckets of clear water under the bridge.
The "Bucket" sets up shop in St Barthélemy every year in the month of April, as an informal get-together for boats over 100' long.

Modelled after a race that originally took place in Nantucket , and is now held in Newport , RI , in the summertime, this just-for-fun regatta is a far cry from the rules and regulations of official races.

In the port of Gustavia , the keels of some of these big boats might have trouble getting through the channel all the way to the dock, but the ambiance, the locale, and the climate can't be beat.
